Earth Day/World Creativity and Innovation Week!!!!!!

DSCN1231DSCN1218DSCN1233

To commemorate Earth Day (April 22) and World Creativity and Innovation Week (April 15-21), groups from Western New York, West Palm Beach, Nashville, Charlotte, and Campobello di Licata, Italy will be leading neighborhood litter pick-ups. With the trash they collect, they will be creating collages entitled “Please stop littering! We are running out of glue.”

Here in WNY, our group reached out to several local organizations in hopes of landing a “high traffic” area in which to display the collages. We invited, via hand written letters, Mayor Brown, the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres. We also sent press releases to the local news stations, all in hopes of raising awareness about littering, Earth Day and World Creativity and Innovation Week. Others in our partner cities have done the same.

It would be great if more groups joined in on the project and chipped in to clean up their own school or business grounds, neighborhoods or blocks. We know it’s a little late, but one group just brainstormed a bit and came up with an inspiring question: “What if more groups in other neighborhoods, cities, or even other states or countries, made collages?” Great idea! Challenge accepted! Shortly after we began reaching out, the project went global!

If you would like to join in and form a small group to take up the project, we will email you the flyer/project write-up and suggested materials list. All that we ask is that you:

1. Begin on Monday April. (Beginning could be as simple as announcing the project to your group.)

2. Complete your litter collage by Friday April 25. Label it with your group’s name and the title                                                                             “Please stop littering! We are running out of glue.”

3. Email us pictures of your project from start to finish so that we may raise awareness by                                                                           posting them on the 1WNY4U and World Creativity and Innovation Week websites!

Join in on the fun! Be socially responsible! Raise awareness! Clean your community!

Make a creative collage!

If you decide to take part in the project, please email us at 1WNY4U@gmail or reach us on our website at 1wny4u.wordpress.com.  We would love to hear from you!
